Savoury Scones

3 cups plain flour
¼ tsp salt
1 to 2 Tbsp fresh herbs (chopped)
1 egg

4 ½tsp baking powder

½cup grated cheese

1to 1½cups milk

 

 

Preheat oven to 230° C.

 

Sift dry ingredients into a bowl and add herbs and grated cheese. Beat the egg and 1 cup of milk together in a bowl then add them to the dry ingredients. Mix quickly to a soft dough adding extra milk if required. 

 

Sprinkle some flour onto a board and put dough onto it.  Roll out the dough lightly, then cut into squares and place on a cold oven tray lined with baking paper.  Bake for  10 – 15 minutes.

 

Makes approx 10 –16 scones depending on the size of the squares.
